TorontoNAJC January Update

The TorontoNAJC Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday January 20, 2019 at Momiji
Centre at 3555 Kingston Road, Toronto starting at 2:00 pm. The meeting will consist of a brief
review of 2018 chapter activities, upcoming projects and events for 2019, an overview of financial statements and the election of 2019 Board of Directors.

Following the short business meeting, there will be a showing of the film “ Justice in Our Time: How Redress Was Won (1989) which documents the Japanese Canadian fight for Redress produced by the late JC filmmaker Jesse Nishihata. Also being presented is “Swimming Upstream – Japanese Canadian Struggle for Justice in B.C.“ a video recently produced by Judge Maryka Omatsu which identifies the specific politicians and officials responsible for the evacuation, confiscation and disposal of JC property, internment/imprisonment and dispersal of Japanese Canadians from British Columbia.

This will be followed by a discussion […] of the current activities of the NAJC in pursuing further redress measures from the B.C. Provincial government. Everyone is welcome to attend.
