Kristofer Sakamoto-Marshall
LinkedInKristofer Sakamoto-Marshall is a mixed-race yonsei, born and raised in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Having reconnected with his Japanese heritage during the last few years, Kristofer has witnessed the warmth, generosity and commitment of the Japanese Canadian community first-hand. With many members of the younger generations being of mixed backgrounds and/or geographically removed from others within the Nikkei community, he is focused on increasing awareness of the Toronto NAJC among the yonsei and gosei, as well as providing a safe space for them to gather.
While studying diaspora and transnational studies at the University of Toronto, and in his current career as an art gallery director, Kristofer has been privileged to develop meaningful relationships based on respect and trust with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Using this same approach, he believes the Toronto NAJC can use its collective voice to support and stand with other underserved or marginalized groups.
