Dear friends and supporters,
We are delighted to have Bob Goulais, an Anishinaabe from Nipissing First Nation to help enlarge our awareness of the contemporary impacts and legacy of Indian Residential Schools, the 60s Scoop and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. We will learn principles of cultural safety and allyship that support Reconciliation and ways of working with Indigenous peoples on a path of transformation. Bob has provided over 25 years of service to not-for-profit, Indigenous organizations and industry. He is a well-known speaker, traditional teacher, facilitator and Master of Ceremonies, providing cultural context, history and traditional knowledge to diverse audiences across Canada. He served as Chief of Staff to the Assembly of First Nation (AFN) National Chief as well as Chief of Staff for the Grand Council Chief of the Anishinabek Nation, a provincial territorial organization representing over 40 First Nations across Ontario. Bob is a second-degree member of the Three Fires Midewiwin Lodge, a traditional society of the Anishinaabe (Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatami) people. He is a strong advocate for the retention and proliferation of the Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway language) and Anishinaabe Aadiziwin (Indigenous ways of knowing and being). He actively leads Indigenous cultural competency training, implementation of Truth and Reconciliation processes, and integration of Indigenous Traditional Knowledge (ITK) values and concepts in projects across Indigenous territory.
Elder, Grandmother Dorothy will be present at the in-person segments.
We hope to spend time with our friends and supporters during Indigenous History month.
