Hi Bruce,
Excellent capture of this event and serves as historical record of Internment.
Love photos displayed during lunch.
Wondering if any are of Slocan.
My family was interned at Slocan

My uncle recently passed so I would appreciate getting access to these pics

Much appreciated

White BCers were scared as the Japanese community were very industrious hard workers. Many small businesses in Vancouver, great fishermans, farmers. Abused young Japanese, lowest of low wages for long hours doing menial jobs. Afraid that the Japanese community would prosper and exceed them. Japanese boys joined the forces to defend Canada and the allies. Not one was found to be in espionage or other efforts to help the enemies.
BC and Federal governments acted and STOLE all properties, businesses and moved them to interior BC. Uprooted and HORGAN purposely does not mention the greatest injustices ever. Shame On You. Still can't admit the greatest of all crimes
ever. Properties were not ever signed by the Japanese owner and the properties are owned/sold by the BC government. Redress by the Conservatives were for punitive damages and
not property rights. American Japanese were given back their homes and properties BUT not in Canada. Systemic Racialism at its worst!!! WE WERE CANADIAN CITIZENS !!!!! Most Canadians are not aware of the worst injustice ever in Canadian history. Residential homes, etc. but they still have their lands. The Japanese community should and will fight for their right to the illegal ownership of their properties. LETS ACT AND NOW
!!!!! Take legal action.
